Corrections officer arrested in connection with NY prison break

DANNEMORA, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A corrections officer at Clinton Correctional Facility has been arrested.

Gene Palmer was arrested and charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree, two counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence and one count of Official Misconduct.

The arrest is a result of the ongoing investigation into the escape of inmates David Sweat and Richard Matt.

The 57-year old pleaded not guilty and was remanded to the Clinton County Jail on $25,000 bail.
