CINCINNATI (AP) — Ohio transportation authorities say exit ramps in an interstate area north of Cincinnati will close during the funeral procession of a slain police officer.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says Interstate 275 ramps to State Routes 22-3 (Montgomery Road) will close from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday. That’s when the procession will travel Montgomery Road to the Gate of Heaven Cemetery for a private burial service.

The public is encouraged to pay respects to officer Sonny Kim by lining the road.

Authorities expect thousands to turn out for Friday’s funeral and the procession, with hundreds of police vehicles from around the country participating. A public visitation was scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Xavier University’s Cintas Center.

The 27-year veteran Kim was fatally shot last Friday by a suspect.
