SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — Springfield Police are investigating a homicide and searching for the gunman.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Sturgeon Street Sunday afternoon.

Police said William Haney, 33, was killed after officers said an altercation escalated into a shooting.

“This was unfortunate. This is a tragedy for this young mans family, they’re good folks, they’re good people. This is a good neighborhood it’s just something that got out of hand and instead of two individuals settling this, it escalated” said Springfield Police Chief Steve Moody.

Haney was survived another shooting back on March 11 on Clifton Street in Springfield. He survived that shooting after seeking help at a nearby McDonald’s.

Police are still looking for the shooter and are urging citizens to help. If you have any information, call Springfield Police.
