DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – It didn’t take long for police to catch up to a gas station robbery suspect.

Dayton police were called to the Sunoco station at 912 Wayne Avenue early Monday morning.

Two employees told officers that they were robbed at gunpoint.

The police report says the suspect propped the station door open with an empty car seat.

He fled after getting about $70 from the register.

Officers caught up to D’arius Wheeler a short time later. They say he did have a handgun with him.

Wheeler is in the Montgomery County Jail on aggravated robbery and theft charges.
