FedEx truck catches fire on I-75 (WDTN)

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A FedEx truck hauling paper caught fire on the interstate early Thursday, prompting lane closures.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. on southbound I-75 just south of Stanley Avenue.

When Dayton firefighters arrived, the truck was pulled over on the right shoulder.

Lt. Brad French says it appears a mechanical issue sparked the fire in the back of the trailer around the wheels.

The truck was hauling paper. Crews had to remove all of the reams from the trailer before they could tow it away.

The two right lanes were shut down for about three hours.

Crews cleared the scene just before 6 a.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
