Ohio State fan crashes Alabama’s media day

HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) – While the SEC Media Days are usually meant to signal the beginning of a brand new college football season, Ohio State fan Jeffrey Moorey wanted to make sure that Alabama fans hadn’t forgotten how the 2014 season ended. Moorey stopped by the lobby of the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover on Wednesday because, as he put it, “we love rubbing elbows with bridesmaids.” Alabama lost to Ohio State back in January at the Sugar Bowl. Ohio State went on to face Oregon in the first ever College Football Playoff Championship, where they won 42-20.

Moorey says there aren’t a lot of people bold enough to show up on Alabama day in Ohio State colors, “I feel like me and John Wayne are the only two men who could walk through here and do this today.” He says it’s all in good fun, but adds that he believes Alabama was overrated last season.

It’s not the first time that Moorey has appeared at SEC Media Days though, as WIAT 42’s Melissa Kim pointed out that he was in Hoover last year decked out in Auburn gear. So the question then…is Moorey an Auburn fan or Ohio State fan? He says he’s always been an Ohio State fan from Ohio, but moved to Birmingham 9 years ago. “They told me I had to pick [Alabama or Auburn] just for living in the area so picked Auburn,” Moorey said with a smile.
