Trooper crackdown nets reckless drivers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) – Numbers are in for the latest Six State Trooper Project.

The initiative to control distracted drivers began July 19 through July 25.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol issued 14 citations for texting or cell phone violations.

They issued 999 citations for reckless or careless driving.

According to the US Department of Transportation, 660,000 drivers are using cell phones or other electronic devices while driving at any given moment.
