OAKWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) – Flames chase an Oakwood family from their home early Friday morning.

Crews were called to the 2700 block of Ridgeway Road around 4:45. When they arrived, they found thick black smoke coming from the garage.

Mutual aid from Dayton and Kettering was called. 2 NEWS spoke with homeowners who say the entire family and the pets were able to make it out safely.

Multiple cars in the garage were destroyed. That’s where it appears the fire started, but a cause is still under investigation.

2 NEWS dug into property records and found the house was built in 1957 and sold for $860,000 in 2011.
