COLUMBUS, Ohio (Staff Reports) – The Ohio State Fair had a record-breaking opening day.
The first day of the annual event on Wednesday drew 59,324 attendees to the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus. That beat the old record, set in 2013, by more than 400 people.
Governor John Kasich was on hand Wednesday for the opening, and attendance was helped along by good weather and a sold-out concert by country star Reba McEntire.
People are also enjoying the famous “butter cows” which included sculptures of Ohio State University head football coach Urban Meyer.
The fair runs through August 9.
