Woman sentenced to life for antifreeze poisoning of husband

ASHTABULA, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio woman has been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole for 15 years for killing her husband by poisoning his drink with antifreeze.

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office says a judge sentenced 55-year-old Teresa Kotomski on Thursday after she was found guilty in a bench trial. She had denied involvement in the 2009 killing of her 65-year-old husband Raymond Kotomski in Ashtabula County.

Raymond Kotomski died several days after he was found unconscious in his Pierpoint home. An autopsy found the former police officer died as a result of complications from ethylene glycol toxicity. That’s most commonly found in antifreeze.

His wife wasn’t initially a suspect in Kotomski’s death, but new evidence was developed and she was arrested last year.
