Events mark 1 year since deadly Walmart shooting

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) – Three separate events will mark the one-year anniversary of the shooting death of John Crawford, III Wednesday in Beavercreek.

He died inside the Walmart store on the night of August 5, 2014. Officers were responding to a 911 call reporting a man pointing a gun. Officers shot and killed Crawford. It turned out he was holding a BB gun.

The group Ohio Open Carry will stage a rally outside the store starting at 5:00 p.m.  Then the group Black Lives Matter will hold a die-in inside.

Crawford’s family and the family attorney will hold a vigil at 7 at Courthouse Square in downtown Dayton.
