Springfield business searched for illegal gambling

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – A Springfield business is among several that were searched for illegal casino operations.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission served warrants at six Ohio establishments including the Lucky Buck on Den Road in Springfield.

The investigation was prompted by a tip that a Galloway, Ohio business was operating machines that paid out cash prizes.

Gaming machines, cash and documents were seized during the multi-county raid. It is not clear exactly what items were pulled from the Springfield location.

The other shops are in Galloway, Portsmouth, Wheelerburg, Hilliard and Plain City.

“Ohio’s gaming laws are clear about the paying out of cash prizes and those who choose to disregard the law will be held accountable,” said Matt Schuler, executive director of the Ohio Casino Control Commission.

No arrests were made, but the investigation is ongoing. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Springfield Police Department did assist in the Springfield raid.
