BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WDTN) – The Bellefontaine mother who police say confessed to killing her three children was expected in court Wednesday morning, but investigators say Brittany Pilkington is scheduled to appear before a judge Thursday.
Police were called to the East Sandusky Avenue home of Brittany and Joseph Pilkington Tuesday morning.
They say Brittany called 911 telling dispatchers that her son was not breathing. Medics were unable to revive 3-month-old Noah Pilkington. The boy was removed to the hospital, where he died.
Tuesday’s death is the third such incident in the Pilkington family in the last year.
Joseph Pilkington came home on July 22, 2014 to find his 3-month-old son, Niall, dead. The cause of the baby’s death was never determined based on testing and lack of evidence at the scene.
Then, on April 6, 2015, the Pilkington’s 4-year-old son, Gavin, was found dead, again when his dad returned home from work. The boy’s death is currently an open investigation at the Logan County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators say the mother is the common factor in all three deaths. They, along with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, interviewed Brittany all day Tuesday.
They say she confessed to “intentionally” killing her sons.
Brittany Pilkington is now charged with three counts of murder. She is being held in the Logan County Jail.
