Witnesses spot hit and run driver in Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Witnesses helped police track down a hit and run driver in connection with a pedestrian crash early Tuesday morning.

It happened around 12:30 in the 2600 block of North Main Street.

Police say the victim was jaywalking when he was hit. Police say the driver sped away but was followed by a witness until the driver could catch up.

The victim was taken to the hospital with what police call life-threatening injuries.

Police are now talking to the driver and testing for possible drug or alcohol.

So far, no formal charges have been filed.
