Back to school safety in West Carrollton

WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Students in West Carrollton returned to school on Tuesday. Now that school is back in session, the fire department is reminding drivers to use caution in school zones.

Firefighters are staffing safety zones during the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times for the first few days of the new school year.

“We are placing a banner on a Fire Department vehicle in highly visible locations that will remind drivers that school is open and to drive slowly,” said Fire Chief Chris Barnett.

According to the Transportation Research Board, more than 100 children are killed and about 25,000 are injured each year while walking to and from school.
