BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WDTN) – A Logan County grand jury recommends that the Bellefontaine mother who prosecutors say confessed to killing her three sons face the death penalty.
The grand jury considered the case against Brittany Pilkington for less than two hours Tuesday before indicting her on three counts of murder with death penalty specifications.
The capital punishment factors are due to multiple victims and victims under the age of 13.
The grand jury heard testimony in regards to Pilkington’s history with children services and whether her reported confession was coerced.
Prosecutors say the three boys were smothered to death over a span of just over one year. They say a possible motive was that Pilkington felt her husband gave too much attention to the children and not enough to her.
Pilkington is in the Logan County Jail on $1-million bond.
