HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – A new firehouse will soon stand in Huber Heights.

The fire division held a ceremonial groundbreaking for Firehouse 25 Tuesday afternoon.

It will be built on Old Troy Pike south of US 40.

The location will allow firefighters and EMS to respond faster to residents north of I-70.

The Huber Heights fire chief wants to thank the community for making the third fire station possible.

“It has always been in a file in my office, discussing the possibility of a third station, but no, I hadn’t. Huber Heights is fortunate. We’ve seen some amazing growth,” said Mark Ashworth, Huber Heights fire chief.

Construction on the firehouse will begin later this year.

It is expected to be complete in 2016.
