DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Dayton carpet store is literally rolling out the carpet for Miami Valley teachers.
Teachers often spend hundreds of dollars of their own money on supplies for their classrooms, so Dayton Carpet has stepped in to ease some of the burden.
Many times teachers use carpet squares as play areas or to mark off spaces in their classroom. Dayton Carpet is offering any teacher who stops into the store 25 carpet tiles for free.
The store bought a big bundle of carpet two or three years ago. Now, it has excess 18×18 squares. Instead of trying to sell them, the manager thought giving them away to teachers would be a better use.
“We love teachers and what they do for all of our kids, and I thought this would be a good way to help them out because it seems like teachers always love carpet tile, and we figured we have a couple thousand of them and we’re going to give them away,” said Jeff Green, General Manager of Dayton Carpet.
The manager said he’s given away several thousand carpet samples to teachers over the last five years.
There is no deadline to pick up the tiles. Teachers can just stop by the store at 5650 Poe Avenue.
