DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton police made a quick arrest after a bank robbery Wednesday morning.
The robbery happened at the Fifth Third Bank at 3830 Linden Ave. in Dayton.
Police tell 2 NEWS the suspect walked into the bank claiming to have a gun. You can see from the surveillance photo that he had a mask over his face and was wearing a distinctive hat. He was also dressed in khaki pants and a business shirt.
Police say he ran into a nearby restaurant to change his clothes. He was captured within ten minutes of the crime.
The suspect is identified as Jason Humphrey, 26. He is being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
After the bank robbery, Dayton Police responded to Fountain Square Cleaners on Patterson Road on the border of Dayton and Oakwood.
Witnesses told police a woman on a bike had robbed the store. Within thirteen minutes, University of Dayton police caught he suspect. Authorities say without those detailed descriptions it may have taken them longer to apprehend the two suspects.
“It comes down to the citizens being the eyes and ears of the neighborhood and letting us know what they see and when they see it. They gave us good details great descriptions of which way the suspects are going, what they’re wearing” said Sgt. Matt Beavers, Dayton Police Department.
No one was hurt during these crimes.
