INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WISH) – More than one thousand people held hands and the Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health on Tuesday night.

The chain of connected humans stretched around the entire hospital, symbolizing a giant hug for all of the patients that are served by the hospital.

The event included music, food and a $1 million check for the hospital.

“You know, they’ve taken on the role of super hero. They’re motivating their teams to raise money, in support for riley hospital. The true heros are the kids inside and the team members who take care of them, but we can’t do that work without support like this,” said Paul Haut, Chief Medical Officer.

In addition to money, art supplies and games were donated to the rain forest room on the hospital’s seventh floor. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
