BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) – As we head into fall allergies are starting to flare up again. But is there a way to spot the difference between allergies or a summer cold?
Despite the heat and humidity this week fall is right around the corner and so is ragweed season. All the symptoms like sneezing and watery eyes will be popping up soon.
We checked in with Allergy and Asthma Centre of Dayton today. Dr. Arturo Bonnin says we’re in ragweed season now but he’s not seeing the amount of sufferers he usually sees. It should begin to increase in the next two weeks.
The scattered showers we’ve been seeing helps clean the air from pollen but mold counts could go up. So if you’re experiencing sinus pressure or if you’re sneezing a lot there’s no specific way to tell if it’s allergies or a summer cold.
“Usually if you have allergies the nose and eyes itch more. If you have the same symptoms the same time of the year you should suspect it is an allergy. You can have colds in the summer or fall but if it happens in the same time it’s allergies,” Dr. Arturo Bonnin said.
Dr. Bonnin recommends going in for allergy testing if you do experience the same symptoms each year. If you do suffer from allergies keeping the windows closed in your car and home can keep the pollen out.
