Miami Twp. trustee candidate caught in internet sting

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A man seeking a seat on the Miami Township Board of Trustees is accused of using the internet to try and meet up with an underage person.

A Montgomery County grand jury indicted Dale Bennett Friday.  His is charged with disseminating matter harmful to a juvenile.

Prosecutors say Bennett thought he was holding an internet chat with an underaged person. They say he was actually talking to a police officer conducting an undercover sting operation.

The Montgomery County Board of Elections confirms that Bennett is a certified candidate for Miami Township Trustee. He is currently a candidate against incumbent Doug Barry.
