DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A crane collapsed near Monument Avenue River Corridor Drive Tuesday.

The operator of the crane suffered moderate injuries, fire officials say.  Paul Raisch, District Chief of the Dayton Fire Department tells 2 NEWS the crane was pouring concrete for a parking garage being built on Water Street near the PNC Bank building.  The crane became unbalanced and tipped over.

The operator was the only injury. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital. According to officials OSHA has been contacted as this was a workplace accident.

Fire officials say it could have been much worse. The accident happened near the bike path that runs through that area but no one was present when the accident happened.

A second crane was put into place around 4:00 p.m. to upright and remove the damaged crane.
