DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton police are trying to identify the man who stole a woman’s SUV at gunpoint and then crashed it.
It happened at the BP gas station on Edwin C. Moses Boulevard around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday as Suzanne Roberts was leaving.
“He was poking me in my side with a gun telling me to get out of my vehicle,” said Roberts.
Police say Roberts did the right thing by cooperating.
“You can always replace the car. She’s physically fine, seems okay emotionally, but you gotta be upset when something like this happens,” said Sgt. Bill Keller, Dayton Police Department.
“Never thought it was going to happen to me, but it happened. So, never think it won’t happen to you because it will happen.”
The suspect crashed into a gas pump while trying to make his getaway. He was last seen running on foot toward Broadway Street.
Police brought in a K-9 to track him, but the search turned up empty.
Officers think someone picked up the suspect.
