MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) – A 9-year-old Middletown boy is in the Butler County Juvenile Detention Ccnter after teachers found a loaded in his backpack.
Investigators say a teacher at Amanda Elementary School was helping the child clean up his messy locker when she saw the gun.
The school was placed on lock down. Police surrounded the elementary minutes later.
“My little girl, Briana, she’s in kindergarten. It’s her first year being in the public school and with all this other things that’s happened and been on the news about all these kids bringing guns and stuff, it scares me, it terrifies me,” said Barbara McIntosh.
The 9 year old is charged with having a gun on school grounds, theft of a firearm and inducing panic.
He will remain in juvenile detention until his a September 28 court hearing.
