Bicycle-riding Batman creates local social media buzz

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – It was a pleasant surprise for students as they walked to class and left many wondering who was behind it.

“At first I thought it was a prank done by some college kids,” said Collin Fleenor.  “[I thought] somebody just went down to the RTA and rented one of those bikes and put a Batman suit on.”

But, it wasn’t a prank. It was all part of a promotional campaign by Link Dayton Bike Share. We strapped a camera to Batman to show you the reactions from people passing by.

“I was like wow Batman is here in Dayton,” said Sinclair Community College student James McGraw. “It caught me off guard.”

“I didn’t expect to see Batman running through on a bicycle,”  said Noah Tuner, student. “It kind of threw me off.”

Along with Sinclair, he made stops at the University of Dayton and Courthouse Square, where it was an unexpected lunch break for some.

2 NEWS Reporter Jordan Bowen caught up with Batman, who explains what his mission is all about.

“It’s suppose to inspire people,” Batman said. “And shed light on the fact that these bikes are so accessible and so easily to get around in the city.”
