One Arrested in Piqua Saturation Patrol

PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced the results from an OVI Checkpoint conducted in conjunction with the Sidney Police Department Friday night on Russell Road between Fourth Avenue and St. Marys Avenue.

238 Vehicles were checked at the checkpoint between 9 and 11 PM Friday. No drivers from the checkpoint were checked for impairment.

In addition – Sidney Police and Troopers conducted a saturation patrol in the area from 9 PM Friday to 3 AM Saturday. One arrest was issued for an OVI, one for driving under a suspended license, three for traffic violations, and one for safety belt usage.

“At the end of the evening, our ultimate goal is just to educate motorists to do the right thing and make other arrangements if they are going to consume alcohol”, stated Lieutenant Joseph Gebhart. “There is no place for impaired driving on our roadways and the public supports the efforts of these men and women out here tonight making their community safer.”
