CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities say an infant whose father is accused of slamming her onto the floor has died.
Hamilton County sheriff’s officials say they responded to a 911 call Saturday and found 35-year-old James Phillips’ infant daughter not breathing at his home in the Cincinnati suburb of Mount Healthy. Court records and sheriff’s officials say Phillips was arrested Saturday on felonious assault and child endangering charges.
Court records say the infant was hospitalized with skull fractures. A sheriff’s spokesman says the baby died Sunday.
Phillips was scheduled for a court hearing Monday. Court records don’t list an attorney for Phillips.
Court documents list the baby as 3-months old. A sheriff’s statement says the infant was 4 months old.
Messages seeking additional information were left at the sheriff’s office Monday.
