Medway woman charged with vehicular manslaughter

MEDWAY, Ohio (WDTN) – A woman has been charged with vehicular manslaughter after trooper say she cut off another driver, who died.

Shirley Seaman, 80, of Medway has pleaded not guilty to the charge. The accident happened in May 2015, when Seaman was traveling northbound on Medway-New Carlisle Road when she tried to make a left turn onto Croskey Boulevard.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Seaman turned into the path of a soutbound car, driven by 28-year-old Karl Benge.

After she struck his car, it flipped over onto its side. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time.

He died at the scene. Seaman was taken to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment.
