PICKERINGTON, Ohio (AP) — A woman who was tipped more than $1,000 for delivering a $6 pizza to an Ohio church says the congregation’s kindness came on the day she found an eviction notice and helped her avoid losing her apartment.
Natasha Boyer tells The Columbus Dispatch she cried for hours after the Oct. 4 delivery to Sycamore Creek Church in Pickerington, near Columbus. The young single mother from Reynoldsburg says she recently lost a week’s pay because of illness, and the tip helped her out of a financial hole by covering her rent and fees.
Boyer is an assistant manager at a local Domino’s Pizza and had stepped in when the usual driver was uncomfortable with making the delivery onstage. Her manager says that driver wasn’t upset and was glad for Boyer.
