DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police are investigating after a man robbed a Dollar General store.

Police were called to the store located at 888 South Gettysburg Avenue before 12 p.m. Saturday.

The clerk told officers a man came behind the counter, pulled a handgun, and told him to hand over the money and “no one would get hurt.” The clerk said the suspect pointed the gun at his side.

The worker stated the suspect reached into the register and took all of the cash out of the top drawer.

The suspect ran from the scene, and a K9 was called in to track the suspect but lost the trail.

Police estimate the suspect got away with more than $200.

Workers say prior to the robbery, the suspect had been walking around the store for about 20 minutes, talking on the phone, and looking at different items in the store. They said he picked up a DVD and put it back. Officers were able to process the DVD for evidence and fingerprints.

Police are reviewing surveillance video. If you have any information that could help, call Crime Stoppers at 937-222-7867.
