Science and Halloween combine at US Air Force museum

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A family fun day at one local museum was extra spook-tacular.

The National Museum of the US Air Force held a Halloween themed celebration where visitors could come dress up in costumes.

Among the fun, kids were able to get a few fall science lessons.

Displays taught visitors about measuring density by bobbing for apples or the physics of playing jack-o-lantern corn hole.

“Our family day program is meant to inspire and educate all ages,” said Cindy Henry, an aerospace educator at the museum. “So it’s a very intergenerational activity. Parents, grandparents, and kids get to learn together and learn about technology, engineering, science, and math and have fun at the same time.”

The next family fun day is November 21 and will commemorate the anniversary of the International Space Station. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
