WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A busy West Carrollton intersection closed Saturday for a water line infrastructure project.

Workers are replacing water lines that are 65 years old and have had many water main breaks.

Alex Road and Dixie Drive closed at 7 a.m. Saturday. The intersection will reopen at 7 p.m.

East Dixie Drive is reduced to one lane, and drivers will have to follow the posted detour signs.

Drivers are not allowed to turn left from West Central Avenue onto Alex Road and will be detoured to Handle Street and Dixie Drive. Drivers heading south on Alex Road will turn left on Bowman Drive, right on Alex-Bell Road, and right on Kimberly Drive. Drivers heading north on Alex Road will turn right on Kimberly Lane to get to Alex-Bell Road and State Route 741.

The city says the project will improve the water flow to businesses along the downtown corridor.
