3 sent to the hospital for Darke County crash

VERSAILLES, Ohio (WDTN) — The Darke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious injury crash that sent three people to the hospital.

The crash happened at the intersection of State Route 47 and U.S. 127 just before 12 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies said Rodney Abney, 24, was driving his 2009 Nissan east on State Route 47 when he failed to stop at the stop sign and slammed into a 2008 Suzuki driven by Cierra Wolfe, 24.

Abney and his passenger, Cody Shafer, 24, were taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital. Wolfe was transported to Wayne Health Care and transferred to Miami Valley Hospital.

Abney is listed in stable condition. Shafer is listed in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
