DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A local brewery will soon be offering more than just craft beer.
Lucky’s Taproom is opening an eatery inside Warped Wing Brewing Company in Dayton.
Drew Trick, the owner of Lucky’s is teaming up with his brother to open Spent Grain Grill inside of Warped Wing. Trick says the food will be unique to downtown and everything will be made from scratch.
The brewery and Lucky’s have been working on this project for the past year. The new restaurant plans to make their own flour to create pizza and breads from Warped Wing beer’s spent grain.
Spent grain is leftover malt. Craft breweries all over the country have put plans in place to prevent spent grain from going to waste.
“There’s a lot of communication between all of the independent owners. We have websites set up, if there are any issues in the district we notify each other within minutes. There’s a lot of communication, we’re striving to make it a better atmosphere for everybody,” said Trick.
Warped Wing says they’re excited to start working side-by-side with the restaurant.
Final inspections start next week. Spent Grain Grill hopes to open in December.
