Springfield police seeking suspect in morning shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – Springfield police are investigating a shooting on Sherman Avenue Tuesday night.

Police were called to the 400 block of Sherman Avenue in Springfield around 11:30 p.m.

The victim, 33-year-old Shawn Keaton, was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, then to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFligh with life threatening injuries according to a police report. The report states Keaton was found with a gunshot wound to his right chest.

There’s no word yet on his condition.

The victim’s wife and child were both inside the house when police arrived, but neither were hurt.

Investigators believe the shooting happened on the porch, evidence markers could be seen on the steps and hanging inside the home. Police are expected to release more information Wednesday morning.

Police are still investigating this incident.
