Survey shows Miami Valley companies are hiring more workers

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – If you’re a job seeker here in the Miami Valley, you’ll be happy to know local companies planning to hire hundreds of new workers over the next few months.

According to a survey by the employment agency Manpower of Dayton Inc., 25 percent of Miami Valley companies plan hire more workers from January to March of next year. And more than half of the companies surveyed say they won’t be making any staff cuts over the next few months.

Here in the Miami Valley, some of the job fields seeing the most hiring are manufacturing and hospitality. Fuyao announced just today that it plans to hire 250 workers before the end of the year.

Tuesday, 2 NEWS Reporter Jordan Bowen spoke with Mark Anderson at the Montgomery County Job Center–who says this means we have a bright future.

“I think hiring has been strong and it remains strong and will continue through 2016 and 2017 to be very strong in this region because we have a lot of new companies coming into town with your Fuyao and Proctor and Gamble projects,” Anderson said. “We have a ton of existing companies that are also hiring.”

And Fuyao is hoping to find those 250 workers through recruiting events. If you’re interested in learning about employment opportunities, the next recruiting event is this Thursday at Sinclair Community at 10am.
