DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The University of Dayton’s Christmas on Campus kicks off Tuesday night.
This is the 52nd year for the annual event. More than 1,000 children from Dayton Public Schools attend, and each child is paired with a UD undergraduate student.
“The theme this year is ‘The Greatest Gift’,” said Hannah Weiker, a junior. “We wanted to signify that it’s not what’s under the tree; Christmas on Campus is so much more than that. Our greatest gift is being together at Christmas.”
The festival includes games, a live nativity scene, and of course, Santa.
The opening ceremony, live Nativity, tree lighting and Santa’s arrival are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Humanities Plaza. All activities are open to the public.
