Kettering credit union robbed Tuesday morning

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – The River Valley Credit Union near Town & Country Shopping Center was robbed Tuesday morning at 9:15.

Lt. T.R. Smart of the Kettering Police Department says a suspect entered the bank Tuesday morning before 9:20 and handed a note to a telling saying, “I want to cash this.”

The note said “Robbery” at the top and also said, “twenties, fifties, and hundreds, no alarms.”  Smart told 2 NEWS nothing else was said by the suspect.  He then left the bank through the front door and fled into a neighborhood. A police K9 lost his trail near Shroyer Road.

The suspect kept his hand in his pocket but not show or claim to have a weapon.

The suspect was described as a tall black male, approximately 50 years of age, with a goatee and black thick-framed glasses.  He was wearing a yellow rain coat.  The suspect left the business on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

A track was attempted with the assistance of a Dayton Police K9 unit, but did not yield further information.
