DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol will soon be hiring and they’re hoping to get more women interested.
According to OSP, there are about 1600 troopers employed by the state but only 130 of them are female and now OSP wants to change that.
Sgt. Jeff Kramer says the job is a tough one but it’s rewarding.
He said they’ve seen more and more women pushing through the ranks.
He says recently a female trooper set a record by getting a perfect score on her biannual physically fitness test. It’s a score he says most male troopers don’t get.
“We encourage women of all areas all around the state. It’s a great job and there’s a lot of success that women have in our department and in law enforcement in general and it’s a great time to start that opportunity,” said Sgt. Kramer.
