BLUFF CITY, TN (WJHL) – Raw sewage appeared to flow into Boone Lake in Bluff City Tennessee Tuesday night, according to a town public works official.
Tuesday at 6 p.m., WJHL reported on the problem the town says is caused by a decades-old Bluff City sewage pump in need of replacement.
According to Bluff City Public Works Director Hugh Thomason, the pump fails when there’s lots of rain.
The Moore family said the sewage covers their yard on the banks of Boone Lake.
Thomason said early Tuesday the town had no evidence the sewage was reaching Boone Lake, and he said there are plans to replace the pump station by the summer.
“If they can just bare with us a little longer we’re going to get the problem solved permanently,” Thomason said.
Moments after the 6 p.m. newscast on WJHL, the Moore’s called back saying the sewage was flowing again. And it wasn’t stopping in their backyard.
