DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Police are looking for a man who they said attempted to rob a Dayton Walgreens.

It happened around 6 p.m. Friday at the store located at 4121 Hoover Avenue.

A clerk told police a man, who is a regular at the store, walked up and said, “Give me the register.”

The clerk said at first, he thought the man was joking. He said the suspect then pulled a gun handle slightly out of his pocket, showing it to the clerk. The man then demanded the register again, at which point the clerk said, “I can’t do that.”

The worker said another customer, unaware of what was happening, walked to the counter. The clerk said he quickly served the customer as the suspect took a step back.

The worker told police after the customer was finished checking out, the suspect came back to the counter and demanded cigarettes. The clerk retrieved a pack and gave them to him. The suspect then reportedly told him he’d return in 15 minutes to rob them.

The worker then called police.

Police said the suspect was wearing a blue bandanna covering most of his face.

No arrests have been made.
