TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) – New city leaders were sworn in on Sunday night in Trotwood.
Among them a new mayor, to take charge in a city which has hit hard times in recent years.
At the inaugural ceremony, held at Phillips Temple Church, the community prayed for the safety of everyone and positive change for the city.
The community as a whole was represented inside the church, witnessing Mary McDonald, the city’s newly elected mayor be sworn in.
Trotwood firefighters, police, veterans, and hundreds of residents were present.
McDonald spent a decade on city council and has now taken another step in leadership, as she took the mayoral oath of office.
“The mayor is a small part of it. But there is city council and citizens that play a part in making Trotwood great. I am excited to be the leader f it at this particular time where god has given us so much favor in our city an I am excited about us moving in a new direction,” said Trotwood mayor, Mary McDonald.
McDonald’s four year term began on January first.
