Boy’s condition continues to improve

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The two-year-old boy who was shot on Christmas Eve is now upgraded to good condition Monday, a representative from Dayton Children’s Hospital said.

The boy was previously in serious condition – an upgrade from his initial critical condition.

The two-year-old boy was shot while in the back seat of a car near Gettysburg Avenue and James H. McGee Boulevard.

20-year-old Nikolai J. Gray, Jr. was arrested December 29 in connection with the shooting on three counts of felonious assault, one count of felonious assault to cause serious harm, one count weapons under disability, and one count of shooting over a roadway.

The shooting happened Thursday, December 24 just after noon at Gettysburg Avenue and James H. McGee Boulevard.

Police say someone fired at least one shot at the car. The vehicle then struck a tree near the Superior Dayton Drive-Thru.

A drive-thru employee told 2 NEWS a woman came into the store with a child who had a gunshot wound in the head. The store manager called 911.
