Kettering traffic lights impacted by winter weather

Traffic lights in Kettering collect snow, ice during cold weather Monday.

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – Some drivers had a difficult time seeing traffic signals and signs during Monday’s morning commute.

Kettering Police Department and street crews received numerous calls after wind and snow caused visibility issues on traffic signals.

“Possibly due to the wind, some of the traffic lights got some snow blown into the light area which caused some obstruction and difficulty for drivers to see the lights,” said Patrolman John Jung with the Kettering Police Department.

Crews continued to work throughout the afternoon removing snow and ice from a few trouble spots.

“The rule of thumb is if you are at a four-way stop and you’re unable to see the signage or the lights are out, treat it like a four-way stop,” said Jung.

Drivers are asked to call the Kettering Police Department’s non-emergency line to report any problems.
