Man to be sentenced in 2014 fatal crash

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – A Clark County man is set to be sentenced for his role in a deadly crash.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers say 54-year-old Lewis Chambers rear-ended a car on Dayton Springfield road in October, 2014 killing a 12-year-old girl and her grandfather.

Prosecutors say alcohol was involved.

Lt. Brian Aller says blood samples were taken from the driver who rear-ended the car carrying Sophia Gruber, 12, her sister Olivia, 10 and their grandfather, Richard Gruber, 65.

Olivia D. Gruber, 10, was flown by CareFlight to Dayton Children’s. Sophia and Richard Gruber were killed.

The grandmother, Brinda Gruber, 56, who was driving when the car was totaled, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.
