DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A woman reported to police her purse was stolen Sunday night from a parking lot in the 1000 block of South Smithville Road.
A woman told police she was loading groceries in to her car around 9:45 Sunday night when she saw a white male standing next to her.
The man grabbed her purse and when the woman tried to hold on to it she noticed the man was holding a large kitchen knife.
According to a police report on the incident the suspect “poked” the woman in the stomach with the knife and said, “That’s not a good idea.”
She let go of the purse and saw the suspect walk to another vehicle in the parking lot. The report also says the victim followed the suspect in an attempt to get her purse back and the he “poked” her with the blade of the knife again saying, “You don’t want to do that,” he threatened, “I’ll cut you.”
A witness told police he heard a woman screaming and he say a car leaving the lot and was able to give police the plate number. That license plate, according to the report, was reported stolen in Centerville.
While the woman was filling out her witness statement she received a call from her credit card company telling her a charge has been made at Big Daddy’s in the 1600 block of East Third Street.
Police went to that location but the store was closed and they were unable to speak with anyone there.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and skinny, wearing a tan Carhart brand coat and a dark colored beanie hat.
