DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Holiday Inn Express is expected to be built near the University of Dayton, on Edwin C. Moses Boulevard, according to our partners at the Dayton Business Journal.

A franchise of the hotel chain closed the deal on Tuesday. The 95-room hotel will be built at the site where a former Econo Lodge stood.

The hotel will be owned by Ohio Hotels LLC and managed by Indiana Hospitality Management, said Muhammad Chaudhry, one of the franchise owners, according to the Dayton Business Journal.

Chaundhry said the site is in a good location with easy access to the downtown. The company aims to start construction work within the next few months and hopes to hire about 25 to 30 employees, according to the Dayton Business Journal.

The Holiday Inn Express is the second Dayton hotel development to take a step forward within the last week.

The developers of the Water Street district announced last week that they are close to a deal to build a seven-story hotel, 115-room Fairfield Inn and Suites in downtown Dayton, according to the Dayton Business Journal.
