Troy’s 2016 Strawberry Festival logo revealed

TROY, Ohio (WDTN) – It’ll be a few more months until the City of Troy’s annual Strawberry Festival, but Tuesday night was an annual tradition for the event.

The event’s general chairman revealed his logo, kicking off the event.

There’s technically two logos: one that’s trademarked and released to the public every year; and then there’s the general chairman’s personalized logo that puts a personal spin on the event.

This year, it’s Nathan Walters’ logo. Walters has reportedly been involved with the Troy Strawberry Festival since 2000, according to a released biography.

This year’s theme is the “A Capella Berries,” decided entirely by Walters – an “avid” Barbershopper. He said music, is near and dear to his heart.

The logo is meant to represent “them, it’s a core part of the festival and it really, people have fun with it,” said Corie Schweser, business manager for the Troy Strawberry Festival.

2016 marks the 40th year for the festival, designed to promote the nonprofit organizations of Miami County. “I think the last time I did the math the nonprofits have earned close to three-quarters of $1 million in 40 years to promote their products and services to the people of Miami County,” said Schweser.

The entertainment will be even better this year as “we have so many new food vendors new strawberry products at least 20-30 new arts and crafts vendors that have applied for the festival so good things are happening and we’re just really, really excited,” she said.

The festival will be held June 4th and 5th. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
