KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – Three restaurants on Woodman Drive are closed Friday night after a power pole fell, knocking out power.
It happened around 1:15 PM Friday afternoon.
According to the manager of Fricker’s in Kettering the wind blew the power line down on top of the building.
At one point investigators believe a car was involved, whether it hit the pole or was hit by the pole. We’re still working to confirm that information.
The restaurant was filled with customers when it happened and they were safely removed away from the utility pole.
Where the pole fell, it was on top of the manager’s office and according to him, “it sounded like a bomb.”
The restaurant will remain closed Friday night. Wendy’s and Subway are also closed.
The Dayton Regional STEM School lost power but students remained in class. Students were moved from darker classrooms to lighter classrooms. School officials have also cancelled all evening activities.
Officials at the STEM school tell 2 News that parents were notified and told they could pick up their children at any time.
